Modern Maki-e design from the PROCYON LUSTER series

A new model featuring modern Maki-e design will be released fro m the PROCYON LUSTER, a new fountain pen series suitable for adul ts.Named after the brightest star in the Canis Minor constellation , the PROCYON pen series is designed to brighten your writing experi -ence in business scenes and in everyday life with all-new body form and color variations. It was the winner of the ISOT 2019 grand prize for functionality. In 2021, PROCYON LUSTER, a new model devel – oped in pursuit of a luxury feel, joined the brand line offering a smooth texture and sleek color palette. This time, special models featuring modern maki-e artworks “ cranes over moon” and “Nishikigoi” respectively on a Black Mist and Champagne Gold bodies have been created. The modern Japanese designs that combine traditional patterns and contemporary styl e match not only Japanese style attire but also any formal clothi ng on special occasions. Other features include the “Slip & Seal Mechanism ” that gives a smooth writing experience at any time and a unique feeder with the “Last Drop Mechanism” for easier ink absorption that allows you to use every last drop of ink in the bottle. The metallic body with a perfect weight balance as well as the pentagon-shaped nib stimu – late the “pleasure of writing” while the unique texture achieved by the elaborate surface treatment and the gorgeous style stimulat e the “pleasure of owning the pen. ”

The design incorporates the style of “Rimpa,” which is one of the art forms of Japanese paintings. Cranes have long been cherished in Japan as a symbol of good luck and used in various items and kimono patterns since ancient times.

The “Showa Sanshoku (three colors of Showa),” “Taisho Sanshoku (three colors of Taisho)” and “Kohaku (red and white),” the popular varieties of Nishikigoi carps, are illustrated over the famous water pattern of Ogata Korin. Legend has it that carps can transform into a mighty dragon by swimming upstream against the river’s strong current and leaping the “dragon gate.” Therefore, the image of a carp jumping over the gate is considered a symbol of success.
