Platinum Pen Co. Reproduces One of Japan's Initial Mechanical Pencil Models Made by Hayakawa, Founder of Sharp Corp.

In 1915, Tokuji Hayakawa, who established Sharp Corporation, started making the first mechanical pencil in Japan. Then he made 15 mechanical pencil models only.
One of the models is EVER READY SHARP PENCIL, from which Sharp took its company name. That is why a mechanical pencil is called a Sharp pencil in Japan. As you know, Sharp is one of the leading electronics manufacturers in the world now.

Platinum Pen has released the reproduced version of the EVER READY SHARP PENCIL
for limited sale. The mechanical pencil has patterns engraved on its body,making users feel good old Japanese culture and representing a novel design even today.
In a related move, Platinum Pen released on Jan. 15, 2010, a ballpoint pen which has the same design as the reproduced mechanical pencil.
